Books with a View Reading Club at Historic Portland Place

Books with a View
Reading Club at Historic Portland Place
Third Wednesday, June – November, 12 – 1 PM
There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away…” - Emily Dickenson

Inspired by history, art, nature and great literature, our second annual reading club will meet to discuss books on a range of intriguing topics. Participants are encouraged to share their own literary suggestions as we meet under the covered porch at Historic Portland Place, the Hartshorne family ancestral home overlooking the Navesink River. Our initial book title is The Nature of Oaks by Douglas W. Tallamy. This book choice was inspired by the mighty oak trees that grace the landscape at Portland Place. Completion of the book is not required but we hope you will have begun reading and will bring your copy with you for the first session. Six Wednesday sessions: June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19.
